Looking for some adventure activities when you are in Hogsback? Or do you want an amazing birthday or unforgettable special occasion? Then let us put together a programme for you!
Waterfalls, forests and freedom
Hobbiton is situated in the quaint magical village of Hogsback, high up in the Amathola mountains. Here you can breathe in fresh air, go on hikes past waterfalls and in the oldest Afromontane forest in South Africa.
Activities and Equipment
We have world class equipment to make sure that you experience the time of your life. Our Team are on hand to ensure your safety. Climb walls, fly through the air from our trapeze, zip line to freedom, conquer Jacobs Ladder and much more! The sky is the limit. We have it all.
Hobbiton has heart
All of the above, along with generous sponsors and donors make our outreach camps possible. We have been providing children from less fortunate circumstances a chance to change their lives and experience the magic of Hobbiton, while finding their potential, since 1945. We are a registered NGO.
Volunteer at Hobbiton
Are you between the age of 18-30 and looking to make a difference? or did you plan to do an overseas gap year? Why don’t you learn some amazing skills while having fun and gaining leadership experience at the same time! Volunteer instructors will be exposed to variety of courses and facilitate the camps and workshops offered at Hobbiton.
Get some experience and get to know your strenghts and work on your weaknesses in preparation for a wonderful future.
Help us to help others
The Covid-19 pandemic has had an extraordinary effect on the Centre’s ability to generate income and to put it bluntly, the only way we have survived into 2021 is because all of our loyal staff (reduced now to only nine in number) are taking severe salary cuts. Our meagre savings are almost entirely depleted. We are busy implementing strategies to continue our work, but we are appealing to you, to assist us to bridge this difficult period in our funding.
We know that there are thousands of people in all corners of the globe who had the ‘Hobbiton Experience’ and who would be devastated should we be forced to close our doors. We hope that our appeal for financial assistance to tide us over this difficult period will not fall on deaf ears." Tonya Burton- Centre Manager
